Sometimes we just need a series of lectures and discussions to help us understand both the larger context of research and the specifics of how we are expected to write it up. Using web-based technologies, and depending on which service is being paid for, DoctoralNet professors share presentations, show how to do the work by sharing their screens (or yours), read writing and give feedback - all in the course of the learning experience.
Weekend Mini Retreats
New for 2013, DoctoralNet professors will dedicate full weekends where we will man the conference room 24 hours a day as all participants focus on one issue within dissertation/thesis work. Students will drop in, here the basic ideas and ask questions targeted to their situation. Then they will work in their home environment and come back with ideas or writing to consider. Professors and small groups will give feedback. Participants are allowed to come as often and for as long as they wish as they move ahead on the topic under consideration. January 26th, 27th is our inaugraural weekend and we will focus on "Finding your topic and developing a defensible methodology around it."
